Customer service

Customer service is important. There is no doubt about it.

I have heard many times, we are all sales people. It doesn't matter who you are, or what it says on your business card, as long as you work for a company YOU ARE IN SALES!

Today I have had three different customer service experiences:

  1. The card left on my desk at the hotel from the hotel manager stated, "We are all here to make your stay more enjoyable. Please feel free to contact any of us at any time. If there is anything I can do personaly, here is my extension...please call me directly." Very well done in my opinion.
  2. I returned my rental car at the airport. While I was gathering my things, a lady asked if I had filled the tank with gas. I told her know as I had purchased the gas option before I left. She proceeded to tell me, "No you didn't." I said, "Yes, I did," and I grabbed the rental car agreement to show her. She said, "well that isn't my problem, you need to take it into the counter and have them fix it." At that point I wasn't very happy, as I felt it was her problem. I felt she didn't want to help me...very poor customer service.
  3. I then walked up to the Northwest, I mean Delta, area to check a bag. I had asked the lady behind the counter if there was an earlier flight than the one I was on. She said, "no." Then she proceeded to tell me how much she didn't like her supervisor. She let me know how she didn't get paid enough to do some of the things required, and there were others who were getting paid more than she does who should be doing these things instead. Especially being she has a bad back. Quite honestly I couldn't get away from her fast enough. Again, very poor customer service.
