Everything is bigger in Texas

I have been on the road this week in Texas. I enjoy getting out and talking with our customers to see how their business is doing. I also enjoy letting our customers know some of the things going on at TempWorks which might help their business.

Most of my time on the road is spent on the plane, in a car, at the customer location, or sleeping in my hotel room. Last night I was able to take a few hours to visit the Texas Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Wow, what a great baseball facility. It seemed like it would be a great place to take your family.

Just down the street from the Ranger's Ballpark is the huge new home for the Dallas Cowboys. The stadium was awesome just looking at it from the outside. I hope I can come back to watch a game there at some point.

TempWorks Software: Customer Spotlight on Priority Personnel

Priority Personnel was found in San Marcus, Texas. They have been serving central Texas since 1993.

I was able to stop in at their office on Monday for a visit. Their team had nothing but great things to say about TempWorks support.

TempWorks has been a staffing software partner with Priority Personnel since 2005.

Priority Personnel is owned by Dan Roy. Pictured is Business Analyst, Brent Paige and Marketing Manager, Stacey Barrington.

I got beat by over 2,600 people on Saturday...but feel pretty darn good about it

I ran in my first 10K over the weekend. Thanks to my wife and a few of my neighbors who pushed me for the first half of the race, I was able to finish in a little over 65 minutes.

After viewing the results on-line last night I noticed that over 1,400 men and 1,200 women beat me. My goal was to finish in 70 minutes, so I was happy with how I had done.

Looks like I will be signing up for a 12K next month.

Goals, sometimes the biggest step is the first one, you have to start.

Press Release:Michael Page Goes Paperless With TempWorks WebCenter

Staffing Industry and Recruitment leader, Michael Page International, leverages TempWorks WebCenter products to eliminate paper documents from payroll and billing operations.

Saint Paul, Minn. (PRWEB) April 22, 2009-- TempWorks Software, the leading provider of technology solutions to the recruiting and staffing industry announced that customer, Michael Page will eliminate paper timesheets and invoices using TempWorks Paperless Staffing products beginning on May 1, 2009. The combination of web portals and electronic invoicing technology allow time approval without reliance on paper timecards and postage-free invoice delivery.

Michael page has spent the past year in gradual migration towards a paperless back office. "We are excited to complete this process, it will make payroll substantially easier since we won't have to manually calculate timesheets," reports Accounts Receivable Manager, Maria Bryan. "We've invested time, effort and enthusiasm in the product and we anticipate our clients will adopt the same attitude as well. In the long run it makes the whole payroll and invoice process significantly easier for everyone," gathers Bryan.

Jose Bordetas, CIO of Michael Page International, remarks that "we are looking forward to eliminating a lot of clutter and cutting many of the costs. The need for postage, paper [and toner etcetera will now be gone, boosting our bottom line in the long run". He continues, "Going paperless enables us to do our jobs more efficiently. We are able to eradicate the manual work that goes into entering time cards and attaching them to invoices. We will be able to maximize the productivity of each employee."

This transition couldn't come at a more appropriate time given that Earth Day is celebrated on Wednesday, April 22. "We are very conscious of the environment, and want to minimize our carbon footprint as much as possible. Paired with the amount of time and money we are going to save, TempWorks Paperless is a good all around solution" states Bordetas.

Sweet Dreams for Kids

This morning as I was getting ready to go to work I saw a story on Fox and Friends which I thought was worth mentioning. There was a couple who has created a foundation which provides pajamas to sick kids who need to stay at the hospital for an extended period of time. I thought it sounded like a good idea, as no one enjoys staying at the hospital...especially kids. Maybe this will help some of them be a little more comfortable while they are there.

Here is the video if you would like to watch it. And here is a link to the Sweet Dreams for Kids website if anyone would like to contribute to their cause.

TempWorks Employee Spotlight: Todd Glander

Yesterday in a sales demonstration to a prospective buyer I was asked what sets TempWorks apart from our competition. I answered "Our people, and their willingness to help our customers at any time of the day or night. And that all starts with the owner, Gregg Dourgarian."

Today I called JoAnn Bagby at BD Employment to find out how their upgrade to TempWorks Enterprise had gone for them. BD Employment upgraded to TempWorks latest software release last week. JoAnn said things had been going really well. She asked that I give kudos to Todd stating, "Todd has been great. He has been there for us every step of the way, even come out of meetings to help us." JoAnn ended by saying if she was here in Minneapolis she would like to give Todd a pat on the back herself.

Todd has been part of the TempWorks team for almost three years. He started out in our support department. He had been involved in our TwSelect division, before moving over to his current position in our implementation team.

Nice job, Todd.

Thank you JoAnn for your nice comments.

I hate running...

but I have been running three to four times a week.

Earlier this year I set some goals. One of which was to run in a half marathon...I am not sure the exact reasons. Maybe some of it was to get in better shape. Maybe it was because my wife has run a couple before and I wanted to see if I could do it. Whatever the reason(s), I started.

In the past two months I have run a couple 5K's. Recently I have been training for a 10K which is taking place this weekend.

Did I mention I hate running?

I am a true believer you can do anything you put your mind to. Anything is possible. You need to start. You just have to create a plan. You have to commit. Be willing to put in the time. It isn't always going to be easy, but it will be worth it...no matter what it is.

Michael Linton, Vice President of Strategic Development of ODW and President of Staffing Leadership Group (SLG), plans to leverage TempWorks to provide recruitment outsourcing to other third party logistics providers, as well as to pay and manage internal employees.
